Republican Congressman Andy Ogles has proposed an amendment to the Twenty-Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, aimed at allowing former President Donald Trump, or any other president, to run for a third presidential term.

Ogles justified his initiative by stating that Trump is "the one leader capable of restoring the greatness of America," calling for changes in the laws to achieve this vision, according to what was published by USA Today.

The Twenty-Second Amendment currently prohibits any person from holding the office of the presidency for more than two terms. However, Ogles' proposal seeks to exempt the president from this limitation while maintaining the prohibition on holding the office for two consecutive terms.

Amending the Constitution requires the support of two-thirds of both the House and Senate, and ratification by three-fourths of the states (38 states), which makes passing the proposal a significant challenge amid the current political complexities.

This proposal comes at a time when Congress is experiencing deep partisan divides, with observers indicating that such an amendment faces significant political and procedural obstacles, sparking renewed debate over Trump’s legacy and the future of leadership in the United States.
