Officials announced the recall of several cars in Canada this week, with nearly
115,000 vehicles affected.

Volkswagen announced a widespread recall affecting 86,308 vehicles across the country, including some Audi models.

The recall applies to Volkswagen Jetta Golf SportWagen models 2019-2020, GLI models 2015-2019, and Audi A3 Sedan model 2015-2020.

For his part, a Volkswagen Canada spokesperson told Daily Hive via email: “The issue relates to the jet pump seal located inside the fuel tank, which may allow fuel to enter the evaporative emissions system (EVAP),” which could cause a fire.

The spokesperson added that there have been no known fires, accidents, or injuries in Canada as a result of this issue so far.

Customers will be notified directly when the replacement part becomes available, with the jet pump inside the fuel tank replaced at no cost.

Volkswagen also said that any customer experiencing fuel system issues before receiving a recall notice should contact the dealer directly.

Earlier this week, Toyota also announced a safety recall on 28,061 models from 2023-2024 of Toyota Tundra, Sequoia, and Lexus 600 LX vehicles in Canada due to issues related to their transmission systems.

All affected vehicle owners are scheduled to be notified by late April 2024, and Toyota and Lexus dealers will update the transmission software at no cost to customers.

Drivers can check the recall status of their vehicles by visiting the Toyota or Lexus websites and entering the vehicle identification numbers.
