Quebec has decided to inject about 100 million dollars into an investment fund to help local inventors market their innovations and research.
This fund, nicknamed "Eureka," will be managed by Investissement Québec, which will work closely with Axelys to develop and transfer innovations in Quebec, according to Economy Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon, announced on Tuesday.
It also aims to stimulate the marketing of innovations by investing in new technology companies and attracting investors.
The Minister of Economy added, "By investing in the early stages of establishing these companies and attracting private sector investors, the Eureka fund will allow us to promote our innovations from the lab directly to the market. We will also contribute to establishing more innovative startups and promoting our products and knowledge around the world."
