Poor performance and clear division among Conservative Party representatives in yesterday's debate in Ottawa

It is difficult to determine the winning candidate in the Thursday debate that was held yesterday in Ottawa.

Anger and confrontation at times were the dominant features of the debate.

It was not the organizers' fault for holding this conference (Canada Strong and Free Networking) or for allowing this discussion that permitted the free exchange of ideas. But the problem was in what some candidates said.

Scott Aitchison began speaking by calling for respect and unity in the election race. The (MP who twice served as the mayor of Huntsville, Ontario) spoke about the lack of leadership skills in Parliament.

On the other hand, Pierre Poilievre and Lise-Lynn Lewis raced to see who could appear angrier and be the biggest defender of the truck drivers' convoy.

Lewis in Thursday's debate was not the same quiet woman who succeeded in attracting people through her grasp of people's issues in 2020. Her discussion was very sharp.

Meanwhile, it became very clear to the eye that they wanted to outbid each other, and their obvious support for the truck drivers' protests was puzzling. A poll conducted by the Angus Reid Institute in mid-February showed that the Conservative Party is divided regarding support for the truck drivers.

Roman Baber actually talked well about fundamental freedom issues and the harms of lockdowns.

As for Charest, he showed that he is capable of handling difficult debates, and this is not surprising to anyone. He cited his experience as Prime Minister and why that would be better for the country.

It is difficult to determine which political party won the Thursday debate. The next debate will be held on May 11 in Edmonton.
