A police officer was injured while trying to stop a stolen car outside a residential building in Etobicoke on Monday morning.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 AM on Eva Road near West Mall, and according to investigators, the officers tried to stop the car which overturned as the driver attempted to flee.
Two of the car's occupants were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An officer was also transported with minor injuries.
Officer Errol Watson told reporters at the scene, "Officers assigned to the regional task force monitoring the stolen vehicle noticed it, the officers strategically tried to intercept the car to prevent a chase, and at that time the driver moved the vehicle in an attempt to escape, the officers pulled two of the passengers out and later arrested them."
The police say four vehicles were damaged as a result of the incident, although no additional injuries have been reported.
Watson said the police are still "in the middle" of the investigation and have no further information to release at this time, and there are no suspects outstanding.
