Three people died and five others were injured Saturday night after a boat crash in the Bay of Back area of Bobsk Lake, north of Kingston, Ontario, according to Ontario County police.
The incident occurred between Westport and Barrham shortly after 9:30 PM.
The Crown Attorney's office said in an update on Sunday, "One of the boats was described as an open fishing boat and the other as a speedboat."
Police confirmed that the three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, identifying them as follows:
• A 21-year-old female from South Frontenac
• A 22-year-old female from Elginburg
• A 23-year-old male from South Frontenac
Ontario police stated, "The ages of the other five injured range from 21 to 44 years. They were transported to Kingston Hospital with a range of injuries. One was transported by Ornge Air due to the severity of their injuries. The others involved in the incident were assessed at the scene by paramedics."
An investigation is currently underway into the cause of the collision.
