Ontario Premier Doug Ford plans to announce the next fuel tax cut in the province in the presence of ministers and specialized experts in Brampton on Thursday.
He will be joined by Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy and Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney to make the announcement at 10 a.m.
The regional fuel tax cut promised by Ford’s government is set to take effect on Friday.
The government passed legislation this spring to reduce the gasoline tax by 5.7 cents per liter, in addition to the fuel tax covering diesel by 5.3 cents per liter, for six months between July 1 and December 31.
Experts say it may provide some relief to drivers facing sharp price increases, although the long-term benefits may be unpredictable.
