American media reported that a drone strike in Afghanistan led to the killing of Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.
Earlier today, two American officials told Reuters that the CIA launched a drone strike in Afghanistan earlier this week, adding on condition of anonymity that the strike took place in Kabul on Sunday. They did not mention details about the target or whether there were any casualties.
The chief spokesman for the Taliban movement had said that the United States carried out a drone attack on a residential building in Kabul earlier this week. Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement that the attack took place on Sunday.
