The Israeli journalist Barak Ravid revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has retracted the Israeli deal proposal that was approved by the war council and mentioned by US President Joe Biden in his speech.
The Israeli journalist stated that Netanyahu expressed his willingness for a partial deal to release some captives before the war resumes again, according to what was reported by the Palestinian news agency "Sama".
In this context, the families of the Israeli captives and detainees issued a statement strongly condemning Netanyahu's retraction of the proposed prisoner exchange deal with Hamas.
The families stated in their statement: "We strongly condemn Netanyahu's retraction of the Israeli proposal for the exchange deal," adding that "Netanyahu's remarks represent an abandonment of 120 captives and harm Israel's moral obligation toward its citizens."
The Israeli families emphasized that "ending the war without recovering the captives is an unprecedented national failure."
For his part, Netanyahu's office responded to the statement from the families of the captives, saying: "It is Hamas that opposes the deal, not Israel. Prime Minister Netanyahu has made it clear that we will not leave Gaza until we return all captives."
In turn, the Hebrew website "Walla" quoted a source familiar with the negotiations as saying that "Netanyahu's statements cause great damage to the prospect of reaching a deal."
Netanyahu spoke about the possibility of reaching an agreement regarding a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas, stating: "I am ready to reach a partial agreement with Hamas to recover some of the hostages, and this is no secret," which is a retraction of the proposal presented by Biden, which Washington claimed was an Israeli proposal, placing responsibility for its failure on Hamas.
The American president had previously presented a three-phase ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip, primarily targeting a ceasefire between Israel and "Hamas", the release of Israeli detainees and Palestinian prisoners, and the reconstruction of Gaza.
