More than 19,000 people in Lebanon have been displaced due to the military escalation between Hezbollah and the occupying entity in the border region, coinciding with the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, according to a report from the International Organization for Migration affiliated with the United Nations on Monday.

The organization stated in a report that "the increase in incidents across the border between the occupied territories and Lebanon" has led to the displacement of 19,646 people "within the south and other areas in the country."

The organization noted an increase in the number of displaced individuals daily since the escalation in Lebanon following Hamas's unprecedented deadly attack on the occupied territories on October 7.

Regional spokesperson for the organization, Mohammad Ali Abu Al-Naja, said in a media statement to global agencies, "We expect an increase in numbers" if the situation continues or escalates further in the border region.

According to Abu Al-Naja, the majority of the displaced have joined family members, while others have taken refuge in three schools that have been converted into shelters in the southern city of Tyre.

The border region has witnessed shelling exchanges for two weeks, particularly between Hezbollah and the occupying army, and Palestinian militants have carried out several infiltration operations towards the occupied territories.
