In an attempt to improve the appeal of the EQS electric car, which failed to achieve good sales, Mercedes-Benz decided to add a new fake grille to the hood to make the car look more practical.

Although electric cars usually do not require a front grille for ventilation, reports talk about Mercedes-Benz's intention to add the grille used in its S-Class car to the electric car as part of a wide-ranging redesign, also allowing buyers to request the iconic Mercedes three-pointed star mounted on the grille.

It seems that the current shape of the EQS electric car does not appeal to many customers, despite the highly advanced equipment in the car. The car's sales suffer from very slow progress, including in the local German market itself, according to Mercedes car dealers.

Although electric motors do not need a front grille because they do not require cooling like traditional internal combustion engines, Mercedes is trying to assert the symbolic status of its brand with the electric car by adding the fake grille and the famous Mercedes emblem.

It is worth noting that the front grille remains an important component in the exterior design of any car, and the manufacturer's identity can be easily recognized through the car's grille alone.

The British automotive agency Autocar quoted "Ula Kallenius," the CEO of Mercedes, saying, "Some customers will want to maintain a sportier look with the famous Mercedes star at the front of their electric car. We believe some of them will also want the electric car's appearance to be more traditional."

At the same time, the list of improvements introduced by Mercedes to its EQS electric car includes luxurious rear seats and a new battery to increase its range. The EQS is expected to be equipped with a 118 kW battery used in the EQS SUV model. The new version of the EQS is expected to be launched next June.
