In a joint statement, the leaders of the seven industrialized countries condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, pointing out that he has placed himself on the wrong side of history.
After a meeting that lasted only an hour, the leaders said in a joint statement: "Putin has again brought war to the continent," and added: "He has placed himself on the wrong side of history," according to their words.
The leaders of the seven industrialized countries added: "We condemn President Vladimir Putin for his persistent refusal to engage in the diplomatic process to discuss issues related to European security despite our repeated offers."
The leaders continued in their statement, saying: "We stand united with our partners including NATO, the European Union and its members, as well as Ukraine, and remain determined to do whatever is necessary to protect the rules of international law."
Participating in this meeting were the German Chancellor, the Prime Ministers of Canada, Britain, Italy, French President Emmanuel Macron, the Prime Minister of Japan, the President of the European Commission, the President of the European Council, and the Secretary-General of NATO.
