Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced Tuesday morning that the evacuation of all Japanese citizens from Sudan has been completed.
Japanese authorities sent a plane belonging to the Self-Defense Forces to Sudan on Monday, as part of ongoing efforts to evacuate Japanese citizens from there.
The Japanese news agency "Kyodo" reported — quoting the Japanese government — that the plane will likely make several flights; transporting people by air from Sudan to Djibouti, where other aircraft of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces await about 1200 kilometers southeast of the Sudanese capital Khartoum, in preparation for evacuating Japanese citizens.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said at a press conference in Tokyo that no reports of injuries have been received among Japanese citizens or embassy staff.
It is noted that some Japanese were transported in evacuation operations carried out by foreign governments.
Earlier today, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that the government is trying to ensure the safe passage of Japanese citizens out of Sudan.
