A video circulating on social media shows the moment an Israeli soldier was captured by Palestinian militants on Saturday.

The video shows a number of Palestinian militants escorting an Israeli soldier with her hands tied, into a four-wheel drive vehicle, and it appeared from the short clip that they were preparing to transport her to another location.

Local reports indicated that the captive soldier was taken to Gaza, noting that she belongs to "Battalion 869."

Palestinian and Israeli media reported on Saturday that Hamas has captured dozens of Israelis, while armed clashes are taking place in several locations in settlement areas near Gaza.

Israelis reported dozens of missing persons from the settlements.

What happened on Saturday morning?

Hamas launched dozens of rockets from the Gaza Strip towards Israel, which led to the activation of air raid sirens across the country.

The Israeli army announced that a number of Palestinian militants infiltrated Israel from the Gaza Strip, and residents along the border area were ordered to stay in their homes.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant approved a wide-scale call-up of reservists according to the needs of the Israeli army.

The minister declared a state of emergency in a 80-kilometer radius from the Gaza Strip, allowing the home front command to restrict gatherings.

Israeli Channel 12 reported that the attack resulted in hundreds of injuries, including at least 40 in serious condition.

The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichai Adraee, stated that Hamas fired approximately 2,200 shells and rockets towards Israel in addition to infiltrations into some areas and towns.

The Israeli army announced the launch of a military operation called "Iron Swords," against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
