Syrian state media reported that Israel launched an airstrike on an international airport in the city of Aleppo in northern Syria before dawn on Monday, rendering it out of service.
The official Syrian news agency (SANA) stated that at around 4:30 AM, Israeli Air Force warplanes fired their missiles from over the Mediterranean Sea, west of the Syrian coastal city of Latakia, targeting Aleppo International Airport.
It added that the airport was forced to close temporarily due to the severe damage inflicted on the runway by the strikes.
There were no reports of casualties from the airstrike.
This will be the fifth time in less than a year that Israeli strikes have rendered Aleppo Airport out of service, with a similar attack occurring in May 2023, two attacks in March of this year, and one in September 2022.
