Most Canadians will set their clocks back one hour early Sunday morning.
This marks the end of daylight saving time, which allows people to enjoy an extra hour of daylight at the end of the day, and switches to standard time in most provinces and territories tomorrow morning.
The change means it will get dark earlier in the evening, but it will be lighter earlier in the morning except for Yukon and most of Saskatchewan, where clocks remain fixed year-round.
Cities like Mississauga, Ontario, also remind drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists to be vigilant on the roads during and after the switch to standard time.
While seasonal time changes are linked to health issues such as headaches and heart problems, Karen Van Haften, a Toronto-based veterinary behavior expert, said our pets can feel the effects too.
She also added that this is because their schedules are closely tied to their owners' daily routines, meaning feeding, exercise, and medication schedules will be delivered an hour later than usual when the clocks fall back.
Van Haften recommended adjusting these routine activities by 10 to 15 minutes daily in the period before or after the time change to help our furry friends adapt.
