A leadership source in the Al-Qassam Brigades confirmed today, Monday, the death of an Israeli prisoner in northern Gaza under mysterious circumstances, during one of the combat zones.

The source told Al Jazeera that an investigation is underway to determine the reasons for the incident, noting that the Al-Qassam Brigades will not disclose the prisoner's name for security reasons.

The northern Gaza Strip is witnessing a serious military escalation amid a large-scale military operation carried out by Israeli forces in the Jabalia area. Israel is imposing a tight blockade on the region, which has led to cutting off communications and food supplies, increasing the suffering of the besieged population.

The military operation in Jabalia began days after intense shelling targeted areas in northern Gaza, resulting in numerous casualties and the destruction of infrastructure. The ground operation coincides with a tight siege imposed by Israeli forces on the area, leading to a near-total paralysis of daily life for the residents.
