The Qatar Investment Promotion Agency highlighted the "Start from Qatar" initiative during its first participation in the "Collision 2024" tech conference, which was held in Toronto, Canada.
The "Start from Qatar" pavilion, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Qatar Financial Centre, and Qatar Development Bank, showcased the exclusive benefits and wide opportunities available for startups and entrepreneurs looking to establish or expand their businesses in the Qatari market.
The pavilion also witnessed a wide turnout from visitors and participants in the exhibition, including Dr. Khalid bin Rashid Al-Mansouri, Qatar's Ambassador to Canada, who emphasized the importance of this initiative.
The pavilion at the four-day conference provided an opportunity for attendees to connect with key partners in the startup and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Qatar, highlighting the thriving business environment in the country, exploring investment opportunities, as well as learning about the incentives designed specifically to empower ambitious startups and support their long-term growth.
The Qatar Investment Promotion Agency also participated in business meetings that were held on the sidelines of the conference to introduce the state's strategic vision for promoting an innovative and sustainable technology environment. During a panel discussion titled "The Role of Government and Industry in Building a Sustainable Technology Hub," Mr. Fahd Ali Al-Kuwari, Senior Investor Relations Manager at the agency, presented the significant and tangible steps that Qatar has taken to accelerate innovation and technological advancement, providing insights into the policies and initiatives being implemented to enhance its position as a thriving hub for innovation and startups.
The participation of the Qatar Investment Promotion Agency in the "Collision 2024" conference, which is one of the fastest-growing tech events in North America, comes after the great interaction and success achieved by the "Start from Qatar" initiative during the Qatar Web Summit 2024, the largest tech event witnessed in the Middle East. The Qatar Financial Centre was able during its participation in the "Start from Qatar" pavilion at the summit to attract and register more than 250 startups.
The "Start from Qatar" investment program offered by Qatar Development Bank received over 1,000 funding applications. The program provides financing of up to $500,000 for startups in the establishment phase and financing of up to $5 million for startups seeking to expand their businesses within the country.
The "Start from Qatar" initiative is designed to support startups at various stages of their journey, and its innovative and comprehensive electronic platform meets all the needs of startups, enabling them to access a wide network of support services, funding programs, business incubators, government grants, networking events, and other diverse resources through its website.
