In the absence of security: Do criminals think we are in Somalia and not in Canada?

In the absence of security: Do criminals think we are in Somalia and not in Canada?

In a country like Canada, which is considered one of the most advanced countries in the world in terms of its legal system, forms of crime seem to be on the continuous rise, raising questions about the reason for this apparent breakdown in security and the state's ability to confront this phenomenon.

The question that strongly arises is: Do some criminals believe that Canada has become a fertile environment for committing crimes without restraint? Do they think we live under conditions similar to those experienced by some countries that have seen their institutions collapse at some point, like Somalia, despite the fact that Canada is a great country with strong legal institutions and solid internal security?

In fact, the situation in Canada today is not only that crime has spread significantly, but some indicators suggest a widening of the gaps that allow criminals to extend their crimes.

The main reasons for the spread of crime in Canada

1. Inability to deter criminals

Despite the strong legal system in Canada, there is a noticeable lack of deterrence for criminals. Many offenders do not feel concerned about the penalties they might face, and some even pride themselves on their criminal abilities and their defiance of the law and their ability to circumvent it.

In truth, the increase in crime is notable, whether it is theft, insurance fraud, money laundering, violent attacks, or intentional arson, which indicates a gap in follow-up, investigation, and the imposition of decisive penalties.

Therefore, it seems that the absence of effective deterrence has created an environment where criminals feel assured that they can escape punishment in many cases.

2. Prolonged trial periods and backlog of cases

One of the prominent factors contributing to the spread of crime in Canada is the long delays in judicial trials, as dangerous cases, including cocaine dealers and traffickers, for example, can give criminals the opportunity to take every possible measure to avoid punishment.

It can take many years before the cases of some criminals are addressed, allowing them the chance to escape punishment and possibly have the case dismissed.

Moreover, this does not stop here; criminals exploit this delay to strengthen their positions, either by obstructing the course of investigations or by repeatedly postponing trials.

This long period does not give justice any chance to achieve rights swiftly, but allows criminals the opportunity to hide evidence, change the course of cases in their favor, and employ defense lawyers to explore everything that can exonerate them, thereby using criminal proceeds to cover their legal fees.

3. Illicit money and influence

Although Canada is a country that respects the law and its judicial institutions are considered independent, there exists a faction of criminals who possess money derived from illegal activities such as drug trafficking, organized crime activities, and arms trade.

These individuals have the ability to pay large sums to specialized lawyers, enhancing their capacity to prolong trial proceedings or find legal loopholes that may lead to their acquittal.

This faction aims not only to "buy loyalty," if one may say so, but they use the money they collected illegally to buy time, which contributes to delaying justice and achieving it, and this, of course, prevents their deterrence and rather encourages them to persist in their criminal behavior.

4. Willingness of some lawyers to work for criminals

The justice system in Canada also faces the problem of some lawyers being willing to act against the public interest to achieve financial profits and successes in complex criminal cases, disregarding the severity of these criminals and the grave threats they pose to the national economy, national security, and community safety.

Although lawyers in Canada follow specific ethical rules, some choose to defend criminals regardless of the gravity of the committed crimes, prolonging the duration of cases. These lawyers can make trials last for extended periods, obstructing the achievement of justice and increasing opportunities for impunity.

5. Weak social and economic policies in some areas

In addition to legal factors, we must also consider social and economic factors. Some areas in Canada suffer from a lack of economic opportunities, which enhances the spread of crime.

Individuals who experience extreme poverty or a scarcity of educational opportunities may become susceptible to falling into and drifting towards illegal activities.

These conditions are used by criminals as a tool to pressure local communities and increase the recruitment and attraction of youth into organized crime.

Canada is not a place for impunity

To all criminals who think they are safe from justice in Canada and who have come to disrespect the law and justice and whose souls are seduced by power and the practice of crime, they think they can do as they please, whenever they like, and among them are Arabs from various nationalities, we say to them: This country is a trust in our hands and will remain a country of law, with no place for criminals who believe they can escape punishment. Yes, there are challenges that may tempt these criminals to the extent that their imaginations lead them to think that this great country is falling apart and lacks strict and firm law, but they must understand that Canada certainly has the ability to confront these challenges. We have strong legal and security institutions, and we are determined to protect the community from anyone who threatens its security and stability, whether on the level of crime or the level of extremist and terrorist threats.

The owners of money and influence from crime may think they can neutralize or delay justice, but in the end, justice will be stronger than all attempts to manipulate, deceive, and commit fraud.

Therefore, I have no doubt that the Canadian government, represented by its effective and strong institutions, is working to strengthen the judicial system and tighten the gaps that criminals may exploit.

With every step taken, with every new law passed, justice gets closer to reaching those criminals who believe they are above the law.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Canada is not the place where criminals think they can escape justice forever.

Canada is a country of law, and any attempt to undermine public safety, I have no doubt, will be met with firmness and severity.

Moreover, the Canadian community will not allow criminals to manipulate justice or think they can change its course to play the role of the victim despite their clear crimes.

Canada will continue to confront crime firmly, working to affirm its prestige and the prestige of its institutions in the field of security and law, no matter what challenges it may face.
