Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that Canadians must "find strength in their differences" in this year's Christmas message.
In his annual Christmas speech, Trudeau called on Canadians saying: "We must love our neighbors as ourselves" and repay kindness by helping those who have been through tough times."
He also added: "Let us share the warmth of the season with those spending the holidays alone this year."
He said that while Christians celebrate the religious holiday by commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, the values of "compassion, kindness, and hope" are for everyone.
Trudeau also thanked members of the military, first responders, and volunteers who give their time to improve someone else's holidays, saying they "embody the eternal message and timeless truth that it is more blessed to give than to receive."
He called on Canadians to bring the holiday spirit into the new year and find ways to make communities, the country, and the world "a brighter place for everyone in 2024."
