The Canadian Hurricane Centre said that Hurricane Lee could make landfall anywhere from the state of Maine in the United States to southeastern Nova Scotia later this week.

The centre, based in Halifax, also stated that Hurricane Lee is likely to make landfall in the Atlantic region as a weak hurricane or a strong tropical storm that could bring heavy rainfall to the area during the latter part of the week.

Canadian environmental meteorologists said that the size of the storm will increase as it moves northward, but it is not expected to intensify in conjunction with other weather systems.

As of this afternoon, Hurricane Lee was a category 3 storm about 900 kilometers south of Bermuda with winds of 185 kilometers per hour.

The hurricane is expected to head north on Wednesday, but its speed and intensity are likely to weaken as it encounters colder waters in the Atlantic.

However, despite Lee being a weak storm, strong winds and heavy rainfall may occur in the area.
