Hundreds of environmental activists are organizing a protest today against the expansion of the American electric car company Tesla's factory.

Production at the factory was suspended last Tuesday after an arson attack on an electricity supply cable caused by an extreme left-wing group. Authorities say the power outage may last several days before restoration.

The protest organizers state that they have no connection to the power outage incident, which also affected thousands of residents.

Today's protests aim to demand officials in the town of Grohnheid, located in an area known for its forests and maritime features, to adhere to the results of a non-binding survey conducted last month.

Residents were asked to participate in a survey regarding Tesla's plans to expand the factory, which covers an area of 300 hectares in the town of Grohnheid by adding a charging warehouse, storage facilities, and a company-affiliated nursery on an additional 170 hectares.

About 5,400 people participated in the survey, with 3,499 voting against the expansion plan and 1,882 supporting it.

Environmental stakeholders also express concern about the pressure the factory places on local water supplies and the risk of pollution.

The "Turn Off Tesla Tap" group stated that the protest will start at 2 PM local time (1300 GMT), at the train station near the factory and will end at the town hall of Grohnheid.

The group's spokesperson, Lou Winters, said the leftist group that claimed responsibility for the attack on the factory's electricity cable is not participating in the protest.

The Volcano Group had announced responsibility for setting fire to the electricity pole that supplies the Tesla factory, other operations, and residents.

The police considered the confession statement issued by the group authentic. The federal prosecution is conducting investigations into the incident.

Tesla denies allegations of causing environmental damage and says it is proceeding with expansion plans despite local opposition.
