The Greater Toronto Area is expected to experience several humid days with temperatures reaching up to 40 degrees with humidity.

The Canadian Ministry of the Environment issued a heat warning for Toronto and many surrounding areas on Thursday, warning that a "hot event" is expected to begin today and continue until Thursday.

The warning covers Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Brampton, Mississauga, and other areas, extending around Lake Ontario through Hamilton and the southeast of Niagara Falls.

"A hot and humid air mass is expected to arrive today. Daytime high temperatures are expected to range from 30 to 32 degrees Celsius, feeling like 40 due to high humidity," according to warnings from the Canadian Ministry of the Environment. "Overnight low temperatures will be between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius."

Toronto is expected to see a rise in temperature to 31 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, feeling like 39 degrees with humidity. There is also a risk of thunderstorms late in the afternoon. Similar conditions are expected on Thursday.

A cold air mass is expected to arrive by Thursday night to alleviate the extreme heat, but it will remain warm. Temperatures are expected to reach 29 degrees Celsius on Friday, rising to 28 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.

The Canadian Ministry of the Environment reminds people to exercise caution in the heat, especially for the elderly, infants, young children, pregnant women, and others at greater risk in hot weather.
