Here are the longest and shortest fasting hours around the world at the beginning of the holy month

With the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world start observing the fasting duty, but the number of fasting hours varies from one country to another and from one region to another across the globe.

Recent statistics indicate that the number of Muslims worldwide approaches two billion out of about 8 billion people, which is about a quarter of the world's population, meaning their presence spans all continents, which creates a significant variation in fasting hours.

In Arab countries, fasting hours will range between 13 hours to 16 hours, depending on the location's longitude and latitude.

In general, Muslims in Arab countries will fast a few more minutes daily as the days of the holy month progress until Eid al-Fitr.

As for the longest fasting hours in the Arab world, they will be in Morocco and Tunisia, reaching approximately 15 hours and 45 minutes.

While the shortest fasting hours will be in the Comoros Islands, amounting to about 12 hours and 37 minutes at the start of the fasting month.

As for the rest of the Arab countries, the fasting hours will be as follows:

Algeria 15 hours and 45 minutes.

Egypt about 15 hours.

Sudan 14 hours and 8 minutes.

Iraq about 15 hours.

Libya 15 hours and 30 minutes.

Bahrain about 14 hours and 49 minutes.

UAE about 14 hours and 41 minutes.

Sultanate of Oman about 14 hours and 37 minutes.

Syria, Palestine, Jordan, and Lebanon approximately 14 hours and 30 minutes.

At the global level, fasting hours will range between approximately 11 hours in Johannesburg in South Africa, Christchurch in New Zealand, and Buenos Aires in Argentina, increasing as we move north.

In Asia, Muslims in Malaysia, Singapore, and Turkey will fast more than 13 hours daily, while it will reach more than 16 hours in India, Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan.
