The Prime Minister's Office said that Justin Trudeau spoke this afternoon with former President Donald Trump following the deadly shooting at one of his campaign rallies on Saturday.
Trudeau's office issued a statement saying that the Prime Minister wishes Trump a speedy recovery, "and condemned what he described as a horrific assassination attempt and reiterated that there is no place for political violence."
In a clear attempt to kill the former president and the presumed Republican candidate in the upcoming presidential election, gunfire rang out at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, resulting in the death of one attendee and injuries to two others.
Trump's campaign stated that he is fine after secret service agents pulled him from the stage, with blood visible on his face.
The 20-year-old shooter from Pennsylvania was killed.
During the conversation with Trump, Trudeau's office said he expressed his condolences to the shooting victims and to the family of the deceased attendee.
