The Canadian Global Affairs confirmed that the person who died in a tourist bus accident at Lake George in New York on Friday was a Canadian citizen.
The ministry explained that it is also aware of the injury of two Canadians in the accident and is following up "to confirm the involvement of other potential Canadians."
New York State Police said one person died and 11 others were injured after a Skyway Coach Line tourist bus crashed on U.S. Highway 87 while traveling from Montreal to New York City on Friday.
Officials in New York later said that most of the 23 passengers on the bus were Canadians, while at least two were Swiss.
The injured, including a person police say was seriously injured, were taken to nearby hospitals.
Global Affairs confirmed that it is providing consular assistance to the victim's family but refused to provide further information for privacy reasons.
