Below is a list of various items recalled by Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency this week, including window coverings, cantaloupe, and mushrooms.

President's Choice white mushroom slices:

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a recall on Wednesday for President's Choice white mushroom slices due to contamination with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

The sliced white mushrooms weighing 454 grams are identified by the global product code 06383059347.

The Food Inspection Agency said consumers should check if they have the mushrooms and throw them away or return them to where they bought them. CFIA stated that if you have already eaten the recalled mushrooms, contact your healthcare provider.

The recall notice also pointed out that the bacteria may not cause the mushrooms to appear or smell spoiled, but consuming them could make you sick. Symptoms include vomiting, nausea, fever, and muscle aches.

No illnesses related to this product have been reported in Canada.

ANKER EVERFROST powered cooler battery packs:

Health Canada issued a recall on Wednesday for battery packs in select coolers branded Anker due to overheating.

These portable refrigerators are used for outdoor camping, travel, and fishing, and operate using a lithium-ion battery that comes with the cooler.

The recall also applies to the following models: Anker EverFrost Powered Colors 30, 40, and 50 identified by A17A0, A17A1, and A17A2. Affected products also include the detachable battery pack A17B0.

Health Canada urges anyone who has these products to stop using the affected items and contact Anker to replace the battery pack for free.

According to the recall notice, nearly 170 coolers were sold in Canada between March and July 2023.

As of October 20, no injuries have been reported in Canada.

Malichita cantaloupe:

CFIA issued a recall on Wednesday for Malichita brand cantaloupe due to possible contamination with Salmonella.

The fruit was sold between October 22 and November 1.

The health agency also said customers should discard the cantaloupe if they have it and contact a healthcare provider if they became ill from eating the fruit.

The Food Inspection Agency stated that foods contaminated with Salmonella may not appear spoiled or smell spoiled but can cause severe illness in some cases.

No illnesses related to this product have been reported in Canada.

Window coverings:

Health Canada issued a recall on Tuesday for various curtains due to the risk of suffocation for children.

The curtains were recalled from Kingdom of Comfort, Prolinen, and BalticLinenIdille, which were sold through Etsy Canada, after failing to meet wired window covering regulations.

The recall notice also pointed out that young children may pull twisted cords around their necks or become entangled in cords, causing suffocation or death.

In total, nearly 50 product units were recalled between October 2019 and June 2023.

No injuries have been reported in Canada as of October 5.

The Ministry of Health recommends using cordless curtains and encourages customers to stop using the recalled items.
