The Greater Toronto Area will be under the influence of special weather tomorrow with freezing rain and strong winds expected on Wednesday.

Jill Taylor, a meteorologist at CityNews, says everything will start around 5 a.m., during the morning commute time.

In a special weather statement from Environment Canada, "Freezing rain is likely from early Wednesday morning, but it is expected to mainly affect areas north of Highway 401."

"Areas near the shores of Lake Ontario are likely to remain above freezing, and as a result, only rain is possible."

Colder areas away from the lake in Mississauga, Brampton, York, Durham, Halton Hills, and Milton could see up to 8 mm of ice accumulation.

Temperatures will rise above freezing late Wednesday afternoon ending the risk of freezing rain. Up to 20 mm of rain is expected.

With strong gusts of wind around 9 or 10 a.m., and rainfall expected to continue up to 20 mm throughout the afternoon. Environment Canada says large water accumulations and flooding are possible.
