The U.S. Coast Guard announced today, Thursday, June 22, 2023, the discovery of the wreckage of the "Titan" submarine, which was lost a few days ago at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, and the death of those who were on board.

Coast Guard officials spoke at a press conference about "complex circumstances" during the search operations for the submarine, which was lost on Sunday during a trip to explore the wreck of the "Titanic" ship.

The Coast Guard offered its condolences to the families of the five people who were on board, adding that work is underway to gather details to determine the circumstances of the submarine's sinking.

The U.S. news network "CNN" also revealed that the wreckage found near the wreck of the "Titanic" ship was assessed to be from the outer hull of the missing "Titan" submarine.

"CNN" quoted the operator of the submarine "Titan" as saying, "We believe we have lost the crew of the missing submarine and offer our condolences to their families."

The network's report also came shortly after the U.S. Coast Guard announced that an autonomous underwater vehicle capable of deep diving had discovered a "debris field" during its search for the missing submarine at the ocean floor.

The desperate search for the "Titan" submarine, which is 6.7 meters long, reached a critical stage on Thursday morning, as it is estimated that the oxygen supply available for the five people on board is about to run out, or may have already run out.

"Titan," operated by the U.S.-based company "OceanGate," began a two-hour journey on Sunday morning but lost contact with the support vessel on the surface.

The submarine started its trip with enough oxygen for 96 hours, according to the company, which means that the oxygen likely ran out on Thursday morning, assuming that the submarine is still intact.

Experts also say that the exact timing of the oxygen depletion depends on factors, including whether the submarine has electricity and how quiet those on board are.
