An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck near the coast of Vancouver Island Monday evening
The Canadian earthquake authority said the earthquake occurred around 5:40 pm, about 186 kilometers west of Port Hardy.
It added that the earthquake occurred at a depth of five kilometers.
It added that the earthquake is not expected to cause a tsunami.
