The Montreal Teachers' Union announced that the recent agreement reached between the Quebec government and the FAE union received 58.5% of the votes of its members. The teachers' union represents 4,384 teachers. The FAE union's recommendations included signing the agreement, but a number of union leaders prefer not to rush into it. It is likely that union members will vote at school service centers in Montreal and Laval regarding the concluded agreement.
One of the most important provisions of the agreement is raising teachers' salaries by an average of 24% over five years.
The Quebec government had issued a decision to raise teachers' salaries by 23.5% over five years, in case the proposed agreement with the Quebec government is approved.

The decision to raise teachers' salaries included teachers belonging to the FSE-CSQ unions, and the salary increases were approved according to the current position of teachers in the salary scale. Teachers are scheduled to vote initially on the agreement soon.
It is worth noting that the united front unions had organized an 11-day strike over November and December, representing about 420,000 workers in the public sector within the province.
