Ontario announced the death of two people due to snow plowing operations in the city of Renfrew, during the bad weather warned of by the Canadian Weather Agency, as a strong snowstorm struck several provinces.
Paramedics in the area received many calls after the snowstorm hit, including distress calls due to snow accumulation and its consequences on the road.
Nick Lyrich, the ambulance operations commander, stated that most of the calls they received were indeed about the snowstorm, and several people contacted them due to health issues caused by the snow removal process on the roads, ranging from difficulty breathing, severe chest pain, and others reporting incidents of people falling and slipping.
He pointed to two deaths caused by the snow plowing operation, which led to their cardiac arrest, resulting in their death.
The Canadian Environmental Agency had warned of very cold weather extending throughout the current week, accompanied by snowstorms, with winds causing temperatures to reach their lowest levels, especially during nighttime, and warned travelers to avoid traveling during this period.
