The Emirati Presidential Diwan announced a formal mourning period and the lowering of flags for 3 days starting today, Thursday, July 27, until the end of Saturday, July 29, for the passing of the late Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler of Abu Dhabi, who passed away today.

The Presidential Diwan issued the following statement of condolence:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.. With hearts believing in God's decree and destiny.. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may Allah protect him, mourns his brother, the late Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler of Abu Dhabi, who returned to his Lord today.

May Allah envelop the deceased with His vast mercy, grant him spaciousness in His gardens, and inspire the entire Al Nahyan family with beautiful patience and solace.. Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him, we shall return.

The Emirati Presidential Diwan had announced a few days ago that His Highness Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler of Abu Dhabi, is facing health issues.

Meanwhile, the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, performed the funeral prayer for his late brother at Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Mosque in Abu Dhabi, and the body of the late Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed was buried in its final resting place at Al Bateen Cemetery in Abu Dhabi.

Several Arab state leaders expressed their condolences for Sheikh Saeed Al Nahyan, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who extended his condolences to the UAE - leadership and people - on the passing of Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler of Abu Dhabi.

President El-Sisi said: "I extend my heartfelt condolences to the brotherly United Arab Emirates, and to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, on the death of his brother, His Highness Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler of Abu Dhabi, who made significant contributions to serve his country, in addition to his fruitful role in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between Egypt and the UAE.. May Allah have mercy on the deceased, grant him spaciousness in His gardens, inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace, and maintain security, stability, and prosperity for the brotherly Emirati people."

Jordanian King Abdullah II also expressed his condolences to the Emirati president, conveying during a phone call his genuine feelings of sympathy and comfort over this loss, asking Allah, the Most High, to enfold the deceased in His vast mercy and grant him spaciousness in His gardens.
