The Conservative Party member asked the Ethics Commissioner in Canada to open an investigation regarding Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's vacation in Jamaica during the New Year and Christmas holidays.

Trudeau's office had clarified that Trudeau's trip had received approval after reviewing its details.

However, Conservative Michael Barrett sent a letter to Canada's Ethics Commissioner Conrad Von Finckenstein regarding Trudeau's trip and clarifying its details, where the Conservatives demanded to know whether Finckenstein was aware that Trudeau stayed for free in a large villa during his trip, owned by an old friend of the Trudeau family.

Conservative Barrett stated that if the discrepancy between the depicted image and reality is proven, then we will be facing deliberate deception, and accordingly, we must know whether Trudeau has violated federal laws again.

This came despite Trudeau's office previously indicating, before Trudeau and his family's trip, that their trip to Jamaica would be at their own expense, and that the family would bear the travel and flight ticket costs
and the entire trip, including their accommodation costs, which lasted 10 days, and that the federal government policy is for the Prime Minister to travel on a government plane whether on an official or governmental mission.

It was mentioned at the time that federal ethics commissioner consultation was obtained before Trudeau and his family left, while the National Post newspaper reported that Trudeau and his families stayed in a private villa whose rental costs about 9 thousand dollars per night, which is part of a resort belonging to businessman Peter Green, an old friend of the Trudeau family, and had been a friend of theirs for a long time.
