An exit at one of Toronto's busiest highway interchanges was closed on Sunday after a trailer truck carrying live fish overturned on its side.

Ontario Provincial Police issued a warning about the collision on Sunday.

Sergeant Tim Dunnah said the truck was transporting live fish when it overturned.

"Unfortunately, some of the fish have run out of water."

A video shared from the scene by the police shows several fish lying on the inner side of the overturned seafood truck on the roadside.

The truck driver was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries.

The exit from the southbound lanes of Highway 404 to the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 was closed due to the collision, but the police said it would reopen by 4:30 PM.

No other injuries have been reported.

The OPP did not mention the cause of the collision, but it comes at a time when the city is experiencing a severe winter weather wave. The police advise drivers to exercise extra caution on the road due to snowfall.
