Fire crews in Ottawa rescued a worker who was experiencing a medical emergency at a Mechanicsville construction site on Monday morning.
Fire officials said the worker at the site located on Parkdale Street south of Burnside Street fell two meters underground.
This created chaos and panic among the workers there, and they in turn quickly contacted the rescue teams who promptly arrived at the scene using a crane and a metal basket to lift the worker to ground level.
After he was extracted, paramedics said the man suffered a seizure and was transported to the trauma center at Ottawa Hospital in stable condition. Ottawa police launched an investigation to look into the causes of the incident and will release details after the ongoing investigations are completed.
