Lei Jun, the founder of the Chinese electronics company Xiaomi, announced today via the Weibo social network that the company will start selling its first electric car "SU7" by the end of this month.
Xiaomi shares rose in Hong Kong following news of the electric car's market launch starting March 28.
Xiaomi, which is primarily known in China for producing mobile phones and electronic devices, announced three years ago that it was developing an electric car.
It is worth noting that the four-door car, manufactured in collaboration with the Chinese company BYD, was showcased last December.
