Chinese community organizations have filed a lawsuit against the RCMP accusing it of defamation, following a previous report in which the police mentioned that the organizations operate as police and espionage centers on behalf of the Chinese government.
The lawsuit stated that the organizations suffered complete damage to their reputation across Canada, not just in Quebec.
The Chinese Family Services Organization in Montreal and others are seeking compensation exceeding $4.9 million according to a report issued by them.
Human rights group reports also indicated that Chinese police centers are used to threaten
and monitor Chinese citizens living abroad, forcing many to return to China.
It is worth mentioning that two members of the Canadian Senate, independent Senator Yuen Pau Woo and Conservative Senator Victor Oh, have provided support and endorsement for the lawsuit.
