Child care centers in Ontario have warned of closure if the province does not compensate them according to the national program, which is estimated to cost about $10 per day.
This came simultaneously with the same demand from the YMCA, and care providers, and the province had announced that it is working to increase the places that provide support and care for children.
It has promised to create about 86,000 places since Ontario signed the program during 2022, and child care programs are part of the YMCA, and it reported that the current funding method is inappropriate.
The charity added that it had informed the government of this earlier in a pre-budget report, and also reported that expenses and fees borne by parents have been reduced by almost half.
Child care centers had raised parent fees after facing increased costs, especially employment and restaurants, and rents.
