Hundreds left without power all night after a driver collided with a pole in West Vancouver.
Fire crews said the collision happened around 9:30 PM Thursday night.
The driver hit the pole, causing it to split in half and prompting BC Hydro to cut power to the area.
Jeremy Duncan, assistant fire chief of West Vancouver Fire and Rescue, told CTV News Vancouver that the driver was transported to the hospital after the accident, but the extent of the injuries is unknown.
WVFR said in a social media notice: "Power was remotely cut off, and they are waiting for a technician to repair the power and restore it as soon as possible."
Drivers were asked to temporarily avoid the area. Nearly 1,500 people initially lost power, but after rerouting, power was restored to about two-thirds.
However, about 500 people around northeast Bellevue Street, south of Haywood Street, and west of 21st Street remained without power until Friday morning.
