The majority of Canadians expressed a positive outlook agreeing with the election of Kamala Harris as President of the United States.
A survey conducted by “Angus Reid” indicated that two-thirds of Canadians are optimistic about Harris winning against Trump in the American elections.
Harris achieved the best performance, with about 80 percent having a positive impression of her.
The way Canadians view Harris may be more related to how they perceive her political rival, former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump, as 35% of respondents say they feel “comfortable” when thinking about Harris, while 76% of Canadians have a negative view of Trump.
While not all respondents hold a positive view of Harris, about 40% of men under 55 years old have unfavorable opinions about her, describing her as dishonest and arrogant.
The survey also showed that Canadians believe a significant majority see it as easier for men to be elected to high political office, with 73% saying it is difficult for female candidates to be elected, while 22% said gender plays no role.
