Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly announced today that she will begin a tour in the Middle East region to meet with officials and her regional counterparts to discuss developments in the Gaza Strip.

The Canadian Foreign Minister will start her tour by visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia starting today, followed by Kuwait and the UAE, continuing until March 9, before visiting Israel and the West Bank from March 10 to 13, according to a statement issued by the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The minister highlights the need to increase vital humanitarian aid to Gaza and exchange views on the necessary steps to help establish pathways toward sustainable peace and security.
Joly also affirms Canada’s steadfast support for the path leading to a two-state solution, including the establishment of a Palestinian state living side by side in peace and security with Israel. She continues to work with partners on efforts to assist Canadians and their families in leaving Gaza.

She is also scheduled to meet with international humanitarian organizations to discuss their work related to the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
