The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a comprehensive recall for 45 energy drinks from brands including 5 Hour, Bob Ross, Monster, Prime, and Red Bull because they do not meet Canadian food safety standards.

Specifically, the recall includes caffeine-containing beverages in cans that do not have bilingual labels in both French and English. The agency stated that any product approved for the Canadian market would have bilingual labels, meaning products with single-language labels were not approved.

This was stated in the CFIA announcement about the recall: "Most of the recalled products were not manufactured for or intended for sale in Canada, were imported by third parties, and sold in stores across Canada." "Consumers may also have purchased the products online."

The agency also warned that some of the recalled drinks do not comply with Canadian regulations regarding caffeine content.

The maximum allowed caffeine content in Canada is 180 mg per serving, as high levels of caffeine can have harmful health effects including insomnia, irritability, headaches, and nervousness in children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and individuals sensitive to caffeine. Exercising while consuming caffeine can also lead to negative health effects.

The CFIA also stated that consumers should avoid consuming energy drinks containing more than 180 mg of caffeine per serving that lack bilingual labels or warning information, and either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.
