Canada announces the presence of a team from its armed forces in the city of Port Sudan to assist in evacuating its nationals from Sudan, where armed clashes have been occurring since mid-April.

Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly said in statements to the local "CBC" network that "a team from our armed forces is currently in Port Sudan."

She explained that the team's goal is to "ensure that options are provided to Canadians" to leave Sudan, according to the network.

The network mentioned that more than 200 Canadian citizens are still stranded in Sudan.

The city of Port Sudan has become a center for evacuating foreign nationals from Sudan by air and sea.

Since April 15, states in Sudan have witnessed wide clashes between the army led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the "Rapid Support Forces" led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo "Hemeti," with both sides exchanging accusations of responsibility for their outbreak following the movement of forces affiliated with each side to control centers belonging to the other.

On the 22nd of the same month, evacuation operations for foreign nationals from Sudan began, with more than 50 countries launching evacuation operations by land through Egypt, Ethiopia, and Chad, by sea via the Port Sudan port, and by air through Khartoum Airport, which resumed operations temporarily.
