Canada: Highway 69-400 is expected to be closed for hours due to the crash

The police reported that the highway across Canada is closed in both directions between Pa Sagim Road in Saugenay First Nation and Nobel on Monday morning after a crash.

The Ministry of Transportation said in a tweet at about 3:30 AM that it happened in the northbound lane at exit 241 where Highway 400 meets Highway 559 north of Parry Sound.

 Melissa Thomas, from the Almaguin Highlands detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, told CTV News in a telephone interview at about 8:30 AM, "The highway is expected to be closed for at least another six hours." Investigators are at the scene and few details have been released.

It is unclear how many vehicles were involved and if there were any injuries.

OPP said in a tweet on Twitter that a detour route has been created using Chippewasong Road for passenger vehicles. The police said, "No commercial vehicles or transport trucks.
