Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed today, Wednesday, that his country supports the International Court of Justice and is closely monitoring its deliberations regarding the case filed against Israel concerning the commission of genocide crimes in Gaza.
However, Trudeau refused to clarify whether Canada agrees with this allegation, or even whether Canada would recognize the court's ruling if it found Israel and its government guilty of committing genocidal crimes.
Trudeau said, in a press conference in the province of "New Brunswick," "I will not comment on what could be a final outcome through a process we support as it unfolds."
The highest court of the United Nations held public hearings for two days - last week - where South Africa presented a "detailed evidence" lawsuit stating that Israel is committing "genocide" in the Gaza Strip.
South Africa says that more than 50 countries support its case, including all the Arab League states, while most of Israel’s Western allies remain "neutral" or have directly rejected the case.
