A Bank of Canada survey revealed that financial pressures remained high during the past period; many Canadians have reduced spending, and there are concerning expectations regarding the future of the economy.
The survey also revealed that intentions to purchase homes have approached the historical average; many Canadians, as well as new immigrants, plan to enter the market soon.
The survey indicated that business owners are not optimistic and that their investment spending plans are below average.
Additionally, companies' expectations regarding discretionary spending indicate that sales are expected to be particularly weak.
