Extreme National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir pledged to continue providing weapons to Israelis to protect themselves.
Ben-Gvir claimed in a post on his official page on the "X" platform, after inspecting the shooting site near the "Ma'ale Adumim" settlement on Thursday morning, that "the carrying of firearms by police officers and civilians prevented a larger attack in the area."
He pointed out that "the Israelis' right to life is more important than the freedom of movement for the Palestinian Authority residents," calling for tightening restrictions on Palestinian movement in the area.
He stressed the need "to set up more military barriers, close roads, and impose more restrictions," according to his post.
Meanwhile, Sky News Arabia quoted the extreme minister saying: "There is no Palestinian people; this is a new invention," in its urgent news on Thursday morning.
Israeli media reported the death of a soldier and the injury of 8 others in a shooting operation at a military checkpoint east of occupied Jerusalem.
The media mentioned that the shooters at Ma'ale Adumim are brothers from Bethlehem, noting that the identity of the third assailant is still unknown.
Three Palestinians were martyred by occupation forces' gunfire, allegedly for carrying out a shooting operation in the Ma'ale Adumim settlement east of occupied Jerusalem.
The Ma'ale Adumim municipality urged residents to stay in their homes after the shooting operation.
