The Moroccan team opened the scoring in the 73rd minute in their match against Belgium on Sunday, through substitute player Abdelhamid Sabiri from a free kick that deceived the veteran goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The first half of the match ended in a goalless draw after the referee canceled a goal scored by the Atlas Lions in the second minute of added time due to offside.
The Moroccan team played its second match within the final qualifications for the World Cup currently being held in Qatar, today, Sunday, where they face the Belgian team eager to win and secure six points to advance to the next round.
The Belgians controlled the game to some extent in the first half, but the Moroccan team showed that it is capable of making counterattacks and posing a threat to the opponent's goal. The Atlas Lions appeared to be in better condition in the second half.
On Sunday morning, after acknowledging being away from their golden generation level in 2018, the veteran playmaker Hazard said on Saturday that Belgium is "capable of winning the World Cup if Eden is good".
The once fiery winger, who lost his starting position with Spanish club Real Madrid, has lost his edge like many in the squad that achieved their best result in history in Russia by finishing third, but the "Red Devils" are counting on the thirst of Kevin De Bruyne and the skill of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, while the bulldozer forward Romelu Lukaku returned to training on Friday recovered from injury.
De Bruyne, the star of English Manchester City, did not hide his frustration and said frankly, "As a national team, you have to harmonize with the players. Does this frustrate me sometimes? Yes, but I have to show it less, even if perfection is what I am looking for". After their narrow opening win over Canada with a goal by Michy Batshuayi, a win over Morocco at the Thumama Stadium will guarantee them a place in the round of 16.
