The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre announced that it recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter scale in the north of Kahramanmaraş province, Turkey, today, Saturday, March 25, 2023.
The epicenter of the earthquake is located 16 km southwest of the city of Elbistan, which has a population of about 80.4 thousand people, at a depth of 2 kilometers, according to what was published by "Russia Today".
No immediate reports of injuries or material damage have been received.
On its part, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) estimated the earthquake’s magnitude at 4.5, pointing out that it occurred at 07:39 am at a depth of 7 kilometers.
